Domhnall “D-Pad” Gleeson Cancels Appearance at Siberian Games Festival

It’s with a heavy heart that we have to bring you this information: Domhnall Gleeson is cancelling his appearance at the popular Siberian Games Festival more commonly referred to as “Siberian Games Festival.” It’s no big secret that Domhnall loves videogames — his nickname isn’t Domhnall “D-Pad” Gleeson for nothing. More info after the jump.

We reached out to Domhnall for answers but we didn’t actually reach out to Domhnall.

This is a major disappointment to everyone in the gaming community. We were really hoping to see the gamer-turned-actor show his skills at the beloved, below freezing convention. Anyone who is anyone knows how Gleeson got his beloved nickname “D-Pad”, but incase you don’t know I will educate you.

The setting is Dublin, in the nineties, a cold Irish night where just off the coast a caravan of fishing boats were anchored and inside of them the most legendary of gaming events was taking place. It was a speed run competition to see who could complete Super Metroid the fastest. There were only two competitors left, a young scrawny Irish boy named Domnhall (Pictured below) and chess grandmaster Bobby Fischer.

I won’t bore you with the details but it was a super close competition and it looked like Fischer was going to take it but Domhnall just barely beat him!!!! After the finals ended the spectators had started to notice that Gleeson’s d-pad was covered in his own blood from the intense button smashing that won him the match! Some of the viewers started to yell “Your D-Pad!!’ and then the other spectators started to chant “D-PAD!!!” not knowing why.

Domhnall rose to his feet and raised his arms in victory, in his proudest moment and accepted his new moniker by writing “D-Pad” on his raincoat in his own blood! When being asked by the local news network about his new name he said “I don’t know.”

Now that you understand why Domhnall is such a legend in the gaming community lets talk some more about why he cancelled his appearance.

As we all know at San Diego Comic-Con Domhnall let it slip that the First Order base is called “Starkiller Base” and ever since then JJ Abrams has kept him on a short leash.  Rumor has it that in the ranch they don’t call him “D-Pad” but they do call him “Spoiler.”  It is such a shame that Abrams won’t allow Domhnall to attend the Siberian Games Festival. A lot of fans, myself included, wanted to see “D-Pad” get back on the sticks.

This convention was also supposed to allow attendees to get some playing time on the all-new Star Wars Battlefront game that’s being released this year. It is unclear whether or not they will still get their hands on this awesome looking game.  Anyways thanks a lot JJ for ruining this year’s greatest convention in the north!! D-Pad, hope to see your bloody thumbs again soon.

Stay tuned to FSW for more fake facts.
