LeBron James Unfollows @Cavs Begins Following @StarWars

CLEVELAND, OH — According to sources on Twitter basketball phenom LeBron James (@KingJames) is no longer following his own team, the Cleveland Cavaliers (@Cavs), fueling rumors that he may be signing with the Golden State Warriors team instead. Even more interesting is the fact that the four-time NBA MVP has begun to follow @StarWars and director @RianJohnson, who is currently shooting Star Wars: Episode VIII. Speculation throughout the twittersphere has exploded over the last few hours, leaving basketball and sci-fi fans divided. The former believe the “Unfollow” is part of James’ preparations for the NBA playoffs, while the latter believe he has scored a role in the upcoming space opera film.

Given James’ physical stature — 6’8″ and 250 lbs. — the actor is a shoe-in for a Wookiee or perhaps an imposing villain a la Darth Vader. Granted, the power forward would bring more than size to Star Wars. James is also a fairly skilled comic actor as he recently proved in a star turn opposite Amy Schumer in Trainwreck.

Despite nothing but an “Unfollow” to go on, some fans have even theorized the NBA All-Star may be leaving the game of basketball altogether, opting for a career in Star Wars films and the lucrative sci-fi convention circuit instead. At this point, the ball is in James’ court.
