Pablo Hidalgo Picks Cinco de Mayo Over Star Wars Day

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Citing cultural importance and a love of Corona beer and guacamole, Lucasfilm Story Group “creative executive” and head “content janitor” Pablo Hidalgo will be unable to attend May the 4th Be With You festivities. His absence leaves a void in the planned day-long celebration on Lucasfilm grounds.

“This is muy triste. I don’t know who can light the Legends bonfire with the passion Pablito has shown in the past,” said Kiri Hart, head of Lucas Story Group.

Curiously enough, Hidalgo is only part Mexican and fourth generation at that. When brought to his attention, the resident capitan de fanboys showed us his cosplay outfit for the re-enactment of the Mexican and French skirmish at the Battle of Puebla in 1862.

“I’m going to be Napoleon III! I get to crush Mexicans the way Sheev spanked the Rebels in his prime, so there is some connectivity between my culture and Star Wars. I do this to honor my great-great-great visabuelos who are canon in the Hidalgo household.”

As part of his Cinco de Mayo observance, Hidalgo will also be absent from social media from May 4th through May 6th.

“We’re thinking of inviting Jimmy Smits to play Hidalgo at the party… because everyone knows ‘when someone bails, you call Bail’ plus I’d feel bad having a non-Latino light the bonfire and run around screaming Fuego! Fuego! Arriba! when we set the Legends novels, comics and games free” said Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.

No word on whether Smits has accepted the invite or whether he will also be manning Hidalgo’s Twitter handle during his absence as well.
