Joss Whedon Demands to Direct a Star Wars Film

Whedon

HOLLYWOOD, CA — Writer/director/producer/fedora aficionado Joss Whedon has gone on record to demand Bob Iger and Kathleen Kennedy allow him to direct a Star Wars Story film. This is a complete 180 for Whedon, who previously sworn off working for Disney after the disappointing Avengers: Age of Ultron. As to be expected, fandom is not taking the news lightly.

Star Wars fans have taken their pitchforks to social media in a show of complete disgust for Disney considering Whedon. As Marvel fans enjoy the brouhaha, the DC community has taken inspiration from Whedon, pitching Zack Snyder as the next Star Trek director.

As it turns out, Whedon has already gone and written a full script and has cast members in mind for a Star Wars spin-off. An insider close to Whedon revealed to FSW  that they have read the script and this is what to expect:

The film would take place between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. It will explore the lives of a group of people who make a living on the fringes of Galactic society. The film is primarily set on the planet Jakku but the group will travel to nearby pioneer-inspired worlds. It will be much smaller and intimate than other Star Wars films.

The group consists of: a ship captain, his female first mate, and her husband, a pilot. The trio is hired by the Rebellion to fight in the Battle of Hoth but they have no real loyalty to them. When things got tough they deserted and made their way to Nal Hutta, meeting up with their crew. A Mirialan female master thief. A male Zabrak brute who frequently butts heads with the captain. A young human female with a knack for machinery with no formal training, the captain’s love interest. And an older human male explorer who was devout member of the Church of the Force and acts as the father figure to the team. From there they head to Jakku for a new job but not without picking up stowaways. A young Zeltron female with telepathic abilities and her adoptive human brother, a former Imperial doctor.

The premise of Whedon’s planned Star Wars spin-off sounds vaguely familiar so we sent an intern to do some sleuthing. Our intern discovered this is nearly identical to Whedon’s cult classic sci-fi western TV series, Firefly. So it seems that Whedon may want to integrate his own creation into the Star Wars universe.

What do you think of this development? Would you be okay with Whedon directing a Star Wars spin-off? What about Firefly in the Galaxy far, far away?As always, stay tuned to FakingStarWars.net for the latest and fakest news from a galaxy far, far away.
