Details on Monday Night Football’s The Force Awakens Trailer Reveal & Suprises!

It’s almost here! After yesterday’s poster and teaser snippets, tonight sees the debut of what is arguably the most anticipated movie trailer in history. The first full length trailer for Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip. Just joshing! Of course, we’re talking about Star Wars: The Force Awakens. There has been plenty of speculation regarding what time the trailer will air during ESPN’s Monday Night Football broadcast. To that we say: TOUCHDOWN! We’ve got the inside scoop on the exact time, plus a ton of exciting surprises Disney has in store for Star Wars fans who tune in to the broadcast. Deets on the Best Muunday ever after the jump!

Let’s cut right to the chase as the last 48 hours have been painful. The first – and last – full length trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens will air live during the Disney-owned ESPN broadcast of Monday Night Football at 8:30 EST!

After the trailer airs on the broadcast, it will debut both online and on the Star Wars app. Tickets will also be available to purchase immediately following the trailer’s debut. You’ll have to check your favorite movie vendor’s apps to determine what exactly will be available, as many of them are handling it differently.

Kylo Ren will appear after each replay

As exciting as the new trailer is, Disney has a lot more in store for Star Wars fans who tune in to the New York Giants vs. Philadelphia Eagles game. The broadcast will feature Star Wars graphics on the scoreboard, with unique animations of characters from The Force Awakens adding visual flair to the telecast. BB-8 rolling through the screen, Kylo Ren slashing away an instant replay, and Chewie roaring during great plays — there’s even an awesome backflipping Rey scene that is planned to occur after interceptions. We hope there’s a Captain Phasma animation where she uses her armor to blend into and out of the screen.

Animations are cool, but that’s nothing compared to JJ Abrams in the friggin’ booth… doing play-by-play! We hear he’ll stay for the second quarter, then rejoin the broadcast during halftime. Speaking of halftime, this is when things get insanely awesome!

The main cast of The Force Awakens will be on hand for a Q&A, plus an informal game of two hand touch flag football with the First Order characters versus those of the Resistance. JJ Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy are set to play the refs.

The cast held prelims with members of the 501st earlier today

As if that wasn’t enough, their little game will be capped off by a performance of Yub Nub by the Ewok marching band in the studio. (The band is made up of children from a local elementary school.)

“Head’s up!”

One last thing, you’d better hope for a high scoring game as Disney has something extra special planned every time a team scores a touchdown. A real black X-Wing fighter is set to fly overhead and drop a payload of fireworks over Lincoln Financial Field. Oh, and we saved the best for last: the game kicks off with a coin toss by the most iconic Star Wars character of all time: Darth Vader!

“The ability to toss a coin is no match for the power of the Dark Side.”

We cannot wait! May the faux be with you. Stay tuned to Faking Star Wars or follow us on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter for all the latest on the greatest made up films in the galaxy.
