CONFIRMED: Boss Nass Actor to Be Thirteenth Doctor!
WINDLESHAM, SURREY — Brian Blessed, the actor known for his supporting role as Boss Nass in Star Wars Episode I – The Phantom Menace, will be the thirteenth Doctor in the cult Sci-Fi series Doctor Who. Just a few weeks ago during a casual interview he made an offhand remark expressing interest in the iconic role. Once the creative team behind the series caught wind of Blessed’s statement, they immediately pursued him to sign on as the next Time Lord.
Showrunner Chris Chibnall, who recently replaced Steven Moffat, said either Blessed or Marvel’s Agent Carter star Hayley Atwell will step into the TARDIS when Peter Capaldi’s turn as the Doctor ends in the next season. While Chibnall thought Atwell would attract Marvel fans to his franchise, Blessed got the gig mainly due to the fact he had played a minor role in a past season back in the 80’s. Chibnall went on to explain he isn’t the biggest fan of having a female Doctor, but may became more open to the possibility in the coming years.
