J.J. Abrams Replaces Zack Snyder as Justice League Director
SANTA MONICA, CA — After abysmal reviews of the latest DC Comics film, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Warner Bros. has decided to part ways with filmmaker Zack Snyder, who was set to direct Justice League parts 1 and 2. Replacing him effective immediately is Star Wars: The Force Awakens director, J.J. Abrams.
This latest development was foreshadowed last week when Bad Robot deleted their Star Wars/Batman mashup tweets. Initially the “tweet wipe” was thought to be a calculated effort to distance The Force Awakens from the lackluster Dawn of Justice. Over the last few days, however, it’s become clear the tweets were deleted because Warner Bros. has hired Abrams to replace Snyder on future DC universe films.
Sources have confirmed WB Studios CEO, Kevin Tsujihara, became enamored of J.J.’s work on the Star Trek reboot and Star Wars only served to reaffirm the studio chief’s belief. Tsujihara began to aggressively court Abrams behind the scenes months before Dawn opened. According to Tsujihara, Abrams is the ideal director to bring the Justice League of America together on the silver screen for the first time.
“We should have known this will happen after unsatisfactory reviews of Snyder’s Man of Steel. Warner Brothers Studios strives not only to bring a great fan experience, keeping comic book accuracy, to our films but also create films that critics will love, earning us those Oscars like Mad Max [Fury Road] did last year. J.J. [Abrams] will take over for Zack [Snyder] for Justice League Part 1 and we will reevaluate once that film is released.”
A bold move by Tsujihara we here at FakingStarWars think! What do you think of this development?
