Jar Jar Binks Superfan Has High Hopes for Episode VIII
CHATTANOOGA, TN — Sally “Gungan” Dinderhoffer, the current Guinness World Record holder of the largest Jar Jar Binks toy collection, is optimistic about the character returning to the screen in Star Wars: Episode VIII. Ms. Dinderhoffer believes Hayden Christensen’s cameo in the upcoming sequel effectively “blowsa da doorsa open” for other prequel characters, including her beloved Gungan.
“Meesa have hope. Meesa think dis-a Hero Masher means they okie-day with Jar Jar comesa backsa to the filmsa.”
It’s been 17 years since Jar Jar Binks was first introduced to audiences in Episode 1: The Phantom Menace. The comic relief character left a horrible impression on Star Wars fans, many of which still believe he represents everything wrong with the prequel films.
Despite Jar Jar Binks being universally loathed by anyone over the age of 5 and not named George Lucas, Ms. Dinderhoffer was instantly drawn to the accidental hero from Naboo. So she began to collect every piece of Jar Jar Binks merchandise she could find.
Dealing with professional toy hunters and resellers was difficult at first, but once Episode I was panned, Ms. Dinderhoffer’s quest for Jar Jar toys became easier. By the time Episode III: Revenge of the Sith was released, dejected fans would donate their Gungan toys to her for free.
“Givesa to the da Gungan Lady they-sa say, and mesa say thank yousa very much.”
The Jar Jar Binks superfan, whose collection includes thousands of licensed merchandise and toys featuring the infamous Gungun, does not buy into the recent Darth Jar Jar theory. Ironically enough, Ms. Dinderhoffer believes Jar Jar is just not bright enough to have masterminded the fall of the Republic.
“Meesa think Jar Jar gonna grabbin da Leia and save her from big POW!”
Thank you to Ms. Dinderhoffer for allowing us to view her collection, and special thanks to the Cave Springs Home for the Mentally Challenged for facilitating our visit.
