ILM Eyes Sean Murray for Procedurally Generated Hype Role
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — ILMxLAB, the division of Industrial Light & Magic dedicated to experiential storytelling via immersive platforms, is in negotiations to add Hello Games chief Sean Murray. The courtship began over 6 months ago when xLAB co-founder John Gaeta first saw Murray making the media rounds.
“His ability to create hype but still seem down-to-earth and downright shy was impressive. The guy can say a quintillion different things, and none of it ever sounds the same. But no one cares, because… I mean, look at him.”
Murray’s latest videogame, the uber-polarizing No Man’s Sky, has already sold more than 700K in just a few days. This despite the fact that no one at Hello Games has ever given a direct answer to what it is you do in the “game,” or whether or not you can do this mystery activity with friends.
“Imagine our vaporware powered by Murray’s hype… can you begin to see the possibilities? We can leapfrog current technologies and promise things no man could never realistically deliver on. Murray can sell a dream like nobody’s business.”
It remains to be seen what projects Murray would work on if he takes a position at xLAB, but FSW believes he will likely describe it as a massively multiplayer multi-sensory procedurally generated hyper geo VR 4K Star Wars experience that redefines everything and lets you do anything with anyone anywhere at any time – even if it’s not really any of those things.
