Greg Grunberg Makes Triumphant Return as Porkins in Rogue One
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA — In what must be a record of some sort, Greg Grunberg has managed to parlay yet another one-sided friendship into an appearance in a Star Wars film.
Semi-fresh from his role as “Snap” Wexley in The Force Awakens, courtesy of childhood tormentor J.J. Abrams, Grunberg will next be seen as young Jek Tono Porkins in Gareth Edwards’ Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
According to insiders, Edwards felt obligated to extend Grunberg the role once the actor reminded him that they were fourth-cousins, twice removed by marriage. Grunberg also reminded Edwards that he was a Star Wars superfan, and his passion for all things nerdy — not the fact that he caddies for Kevin Smith — led him to cohost Geeking Out with the storied director of such classics as Tusk and Yoga Hosers.
While it would be east to write off Grunberg as a non-actor and more of a sorta-friend-of-cast-and-crew, the head chef and owner of Grunbergers is putting in work. Casting specs required a younger, slimmer Porkins, and Grunberg has been very disciplined about tripling up on custom Force Fit Spanx.
We have to admit, the effort has paid off as a close examination of Grunberg’s appearance in the film reveals a somewhat slimmer silhouette.
So kudos, Greg. You’ve done it again! Can’t wait to see you in the young Han Solo film. It really wouldn’t be a Disney era Star Wars film without your magnetic presence or craft services.
As always, keep it locked to FakingStarWars.net for the latest and fakest from a galaxy far, far away.
