George Lucas Sells Original Star Wars Draft to FOX to Adapt into TV Series
MARIN COUNTY, CA — Many sci-fi films are set to release in the coming years, most of which inspired by George Lucas’s works. Looking to cash in on this trend, 20th Century Fox has purchased the original draft of A New Hope from Lucas. They plan to make it into a television series on FOX. The original draft is available to be read in comic form under the title The Star Wars. Obviously, FOX will have to change many names, character designs, etc that made the cut into A New Hope to avoid being sued by the Walt Disney Company. The story itself however will be 100% inspired by Lucas’s original draft and continue the story of that script.
How the original draft managed to avoid the Disney sale of 2012 is unknown, but Disney is looking for a way to shut 20th Century Fox down. A source close to Lucas said the original document was on Lucas’s estate and had been prior to the sale. So it seems 20th Century Fox will be able to produce the series due to a loophole since the script was not actually owned by Lucasfilm but rather Uncle George himself. The main character’s name will be changed to Dann Starr and the rumored title is George Lucas Presents: Starr’s Wars.
Stay tuned to FSW as this develops. We are betting on Disney shutting it down and George rolling in more money, Scrooge McDuck-style.
