Exclusive: Han Solo Anthology Film Will Be a Comedy
More news regarding the untitled Han Solo Anthology has made its way to FSW ears! An insider, going by the name “The Wale” has revealed the Lord & Christopher-directed film will be a comedy. While humor and comic relief have been a part of every Star Wars film, Han Solo will be the first full-on LOL comedy set in a galaxy far, far away.
The Wale has also told us of some Legends material will be referenced in the upcoming Solo spinoff. Most of the material comes from the Han Solo Trilogy by A.C. Crispin, specifically the second novel in the series, The Hutt Gambit. Here is what The Wale shared with us.
- There will be a scene featuring where Han and Lando first meet. It will be at the card game in which Han wins the Millennium Falcon from Lando.
- Lando’s role is not very big in the film but he does steal a couple of scenes.
- The choice of Glover is really good and will be apparent in the final product. The character is hilarious and quite the ladies man, just like Glover.
- Han will meet Chewbacca for the first time as well. It basically happens by accident and Chewie swears a life debt to Han.
- Boba Fett will appear as a rival to Solo. Fett cracks wise about how he wishes Han was frozen in carbonite because Han won’t stop running his mouth.
- Fett is not the main antagonist of the film, but a new bounty hunter type is. (No word on the actor or name of character as of yet.)
- Temuera Morrison has declined to voice and appear as Fett. However, Dee Bradley Baker will voice him.
- Han meets Jabba the Hutt for the first time as well. We see them in an “interview” of sorts for a job. Yes, Salacious Crumb is in the scene.
- Salacious will actually be voiced by Wilmer Valderrama. He does a great laugh, nearly identical to the one in Return of the Jedi. Plus he’s brown.
- Han’s “love interest” in the film will be Sana Starros. Starros was first seen in Marvel’s Star Wars 4: Skywalker Strikes, Part IV. No actress has been offered the part just yet, but Lucasfilm has it narrowed down to 3 women.
- Classic stormtroopers are back again. They are silly and incompetent this time around. A group does a great slapstick routine, reminiscent of The Three Stooges.
- New aliens, Big-Mouth and Edrio “Two-Tubes”, from Rogue One, will cameo — “Two-Tubes” and his twin brother Benthic really shine in a bit reminiscent of Abbot & Costello’s Who’s on First.
- Harrison Ford, Warwick Davis, and Stan Lee have signed on to cameo as well.
- Maz Kanata appears in the film as a mentor to Han. She is much more like Mr. Miyagi from The Karate Kid film series now. No word on Lupita Nyong’o returning.
