Riz Ahmed’s Lando Diss Sparks Rap Feud with Young & Old Landos

Ahmed & LaBeouf vs Glover and Williams

Last night’s episode of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon has become the center of a controversy that threatens to destroy the Star Wars rap community. After eagerly shilling for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, actor Riz Ahmed was invited to play a rap game with Fallon.

The rules were simple: Fallon would hit a button making three random Star Wars words appear, and Ahmed would have to string them all together into a rap. Upon seeing the words however, Ahmed looked confused by one in particular.

Fallon laughs as Ahmed pretends to know what “Lando Calrissian” is.

“Lando Calrissian” clearly did not ring any bells in the Rogue One actor’s head. Ahmed actually turned to Fallon and the audience and asked “What is that third one?” as though they were trolling him with a made up word. The audience, which included Nintendo’s legendary videogame creator Shigeru Miyamoto, was stunned beyond belief.

Fallon, sensing the rage of billions of nerds, finally came to Ahmed’s aid. After being schooled on Lando, Ahmed nodded and pretended to know where the Lando system was. Ironically, once the actor delivered his mostly lackluster rap, the “Lando Calrissian” verse was its only saving grace.

Immediately after the taping of the segment, the Star Wars rap community was informed of the disastrous faux pas. FSW sources claim Ahmed’s most vocal critic is none other than Donald Glover, the rapper/writer/performer who is set to star as Lando Calrissian in the upcoming young Han Solo solo film.

Glover has been spotted in an Atlanta studio rhyming with the original Lando, the ever-debonair Billy Dee Williams, along with DJ Khaled who’s also irate over Ahmed having “played himself.”

FSW believes an epic rap battle is set to take place between the two Landos and Ahmed with his newly enlisted rapping actor mentor, Shia LaBeouf.

We sincerely hope the feud remains lighthearted and never escalates into physical violence. But a word to the wise: do your homework before appearing on national television to pitch anything Star Wars-related in a “freestyle” rap.

P.S. Miyamoto told an FSW correspondent he is working on a new rhythm battle IP for the Nintendo Switch, and we can’t help but think a level based on the Riz Ahmed/Lando Calrissian feud will somehow be playable.
