Kathleen Kennedy Attends Women’s March on Washington
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Throngs of women are expected to attend today’s landmark Women’s March on Washington in protest of Donald J. Trump’s inauguration and FSW has learned the force will be strong with them. According to our Washington insider, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy will be attending the march to show support for the rights of women, gays, Muslims, and any other groups expected to be disenfranchised under Trump’s administration. Kennedy is to accompanied by high-ranking members of the Lucasfilm Story Group, including Pablo Hidalgo and Kiri Hart.
Kennedy is a staunch proponent of women’s rights, and has led the shift of Star Wars as a white male driven property to a celebration of diversity reflective of the evolving fan base. Both Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story are notable for having strong female leads as well as much more cultural representation from all walks of life when compared to Star Wars films made under creator George Lucas.
Our sources claim the team from Lucasfilm will be working double duty at the march. Not only will they be marching with thousands of other women and minorities, but the creative executives are said to be keeping an eye out for interesting faces and unique voices. We have it on good word that Kennedy and company will be talent scouting at the event in order to fill several roles in upcoming Star Wars projects. One more reason to attend this landmark event.
