Whoopi Goldberg Wants to Be in Star Wars
Apparently Whoopi Goldberg is a Star Wars superfan, and she’s determined to appear in the cinematic galaxy far, far away. After a recent viewing of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Goldberg’s fandom hit the hyperdrive and shot her passion into lightspeed. The performer is now determined to land a role in an upcoming Anthology film. Goldberg’s passion for the Star Wars universe stems from her enjoyment of the Rebels cartoon series, which she watches with her grandson.
Chatting with an FSW correspondent, Goldberg raved about Disney-era Star Wars. The Star Trek: The Next Generation alum had this to say.
“You have a different quality now with Disney. The way they have done movies has always been the smartest and the fans are finally seeing it in Rogue One, Force Awakens, and the Rebels cartoon I watch with [my grandson] Mason.
I like the idea of doing things the way they do them. Kathleen Kennedy and Pablo Hidalgo have done some really fun stuff in new films and TV series. I’m still dying to do one! Put me in the next spin off Kathy. Hook a sistah up!
I always hope when I visit Disney, Kathy will say, ‘Hey we want you to do something in Star Wars.’ I would love that. I’ve done Trek, which is sci-fi… and now I want to do Wars for some of that sci-fun goodness! “
Kathleen Kennedy and Bob Iger, please make this happen! Goldberg has prior spaceship experience, so there wouldn’t be much training involved. 😉
What would you think if they made her a Jedi? Maybe Maz Kanata’s weird aunt? How about voicing a character in Rebels? We could certainly imagine Goldberg sitting in a space bar… wait a minute…
