John Boyega Confirms Finn Will Pilot a Giant Robot in the Last Jedi

In an exclusive interview with Pierre Bonooru of FSW France, John Boyega talks about Finn in the upcoming Star Wars sequel film, The Last Jedi. The leading man also compares the former stormtrooper to his new character, Jake Pentecost in his self-produced Pacific Rim: Uprising. It seems the two characters have something very big in common.

The following interview was conducted in French so there may be a few things lost in translation.

“Finn and Jake are very similar. They are both thrust into an adventure of a lifetime and get to go on that adventure with their best friend. And they both pilot giant robots. However the two are also very different. While Finn doesn’t know his family, Jake has a legacy to live up to. His father was friggin’ Idris Elba for God’s sake!

I won’t go into spoilers because Rian [Johnson] would likely kill me. [Laughs.] What I can say is, you will not be disappointed with either film.”

Is Rian Johnson really bringing large robot suits into Star Wars or do you think Boyega is pulling our mechanical leg? We at FSW North America are thinking the latter, while FSW France is sold on Boyega’s words.
