Rian Johnson Accused Of Objectifying Stormy Daniels With Creepy Emoji

Director Rian Johnson has come under fire for allegedly using the “male gaze” to make adult performer Stormy Daniels feel uncomfortable on Twitter. The incident began as a harmless exchange with Daniels tweeting her two-word review of The Last Jedi to Johnson. Things went south from there, as the self-professed feminist immediately replied with one of the most problematic emojis in existence. “The grinning, starry eyed creep is a digital representation of the male gaze. It amounts to assault when used by a white, heterosexual man in a position of power. This is male privilege at its absolute worst,” said actress and sexual abuse survivor, Rose McGowan. The outspoken advocate of the #MeToo movement (which calls out abusive men in power) has been consoling Daniels at her Los Angeles home since late last week.

Adding insult to injury, Johnson’s emoji sparked a barrage of misogynistic hate speech directed at the adult performer. Still recovering from the first salvo, Daniels was brought to tears when her childhood hero entered the fray. Mark Hamill, Luke Skywalker himself, joined in the onslaught, piling on with a terribly sexist joke punctuated by a lipstick emoji. The entire exchange felt surreal in a day and age where the bar for such occurrences is ridiculously high.

McGowan is supporting Daniels throughout her ordeal

While Johnson is known for being flippant with his social following, this time he may have finally crossed the line. We hear McGowan has personally called Kathleen Kennedy to complain about the “tweetdown” of Daniels. According to McGowan, a modern take on Star Wars where the Force is female and diversity is on full display has no place for the likes of Johnson and Hamill.

The drama will take another twist on late-night television in the very near future.  Daniels, who claims to have had an affair with President Trump in 2006, is expected to address both controversies when she guests on Jimmy Kimmel LIVE! January 30, following Trump’s State of the Union address.
