Kathleen Kennedy: Next Spinoff To Focus On Lando’s Hair
During a press junket for Solo: A Star Wars Story, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy detailed the company’s plan for its next spinoff film – and it’s a hair-raiser! According to French GQ, Lando will take center stage in his own solo (with a small s) film.
“Lando is a gold mine of powerful stories from head to toe, and we’re starting at the very top… for months now, fans have been wondering how Lando went from this funky, asymmetric hairdo to the suave and debonair style he sports in Empire Strikes Back. So we’re going to answer that in a film that’s packed with adventure, humor and fun social commentary. And no one does that better than Donald Glover,” said Kennedy.
The announcement comes as a surprise to Star Wars mullet fans, as they had expected the rumored-to-be-in-pre-production Obi-Wan Kenobi film to be next on the slate of Disney’s spinoff films. Insiders suggest Kennedy may have switched gears because of the overwhelmingly positive reception to Lando’s hair style in Solo.
“It’s definitely a throwback style, and not everyone can pull it off, but Donald looks pimp… naturally I’m also curious as to how he went from the flat top to the relaxed waves in the original movies,” said Eric Moore of Headz Ain’t Ready Barbershop & Beauty Supply.
Of course, this isn’t set in stone just yet, and Kennedy has been known to backtrack on statements made to random French rags or it could be a translation error from our FSW France office. Ultimately, her plan to expand upon the lore of Lando’s locks hinges on Solo’s success. May 25th can’t come soon enough!
