Maz Kanata and Her Diverse Crew of Pansexual Pirates
We back in the spoiler biz fam! One of our “legit sources” has managed to send us some deets regarding Maz Kanata and her role in Star Wars: Episode IX! Turn back if you don’t want to be spoiled!

Still with us? Well, here it comes! Take this with a grain of Crait salt as it does come from one of Jacen’s cousins who isn’t super reliable, but zhe did get some stuff about The Force Awakens correct back in 2015.
- Maz Kanata will play a much more prominent role this time around.
- She’s the captain of a giant, metallic pirate ship called “Jolly Roger” in production materials.
- She will be leading a diverse crew of scumbags and scoundrels.
- The concept art for the crew includes humans of many races as well as various classic and new aliens.
- Lando Calrissian will be on board as the first mate and Rey will join the crew as well.
- While on the ship, Rey repairs the broken Skywalker lightsaber while making some modifications to fit her own style of fighting.
- Maz and Lando finally explain how the Skywalker lightsaber ended up at Maz’s castle and why Rey was chosen to wield it.
- Rey is the child of Luke but he didn’t know.
- Lando and Maz are implied to be in a relationship.
- When Rey docks the Falcon on the “Jolly Roger,” Lando extracts L3-37’s brain into a new droid body.
