SPOILER! The Demise of a Legacy Character in Episode IX

Another day, another leak! Our deep source on the Episode IX set has sent us another bit of info regarding a fan favorite character from the original trilogy. If you do not want to be spoiled turn back now!

SPOILERS! SPOILERS! SPOILERS!

For those of you who stuck around, thank you! You have dedication to the Star Wars spoiler game so you will be rewarded with the remainder of this article. Also a big thanks to our source “Muffler Dundee” for sending us this leak.

C-3PO will be sporting a new look in Episode IX.

According to Dundee, C-3PO is destroyed by the end of Episode IX. We hear you screaming to the Star Wars gods now, asking zhim why you have been forsaken. But do not worry, it’s not like Admiral Ackbar’s unceremonious death at the hands of Rian Johnson in The Last Jedi. Threepio is shown proper respect by Mr. Abrams.

Tico will be a major player this time around while searching for the missing bolt.

Threepio is given crucial plan details for the new Rebellion. However, he is damaged during a bombing raid near the beginning of the film by the First Order so Rose Tico will find a missing bolt so he can deliver the plans to new allies.

Rey and Rose, along with Threepio and R2-D2, make their way to a pirate ship operated by Lando Calrissian and Maz Kanata but there is a First Order sympathizer among Calrissian and Kanata’s crew who alerts General Hux. Hux sends stormtroopers and they raid the pirate ship looking for Threepio. Threepio downloads the plans into Lando’s personal computer drive as they leave but Rose is captured.

Threepio self-destructs to save Rose and Artoo but Artoo is damaged in the explosion knocking him offline. Rey scavenges Threepio’s remaining parts and returns to the New Rebellion base with Rose, Lando, Maz, and the damaged Artoo.

Rose and Rey will don clothing meant to evoke C-3PO in honor of him during a “funeral” service for the droid.

Rose repairs Artoo using Threepio’s parts making him a hybrid droid (or “trans-droid” as referred to in production materials).
