Kanye West Joins Adam Driver in SNL’s Undercover Ren Prequel
In what may feel like a bizarre fever dream, Kanye West will be joining Adam Driver in another segment of Undercover Boss during SNL’s 44th season opener. According to our spies, the segment will not be a direct continuation of Driver’s fan-favorite turn as Matt the radar technician. Instead, we’re told this will be a prequel that focuses on Lando Calrissian with Driver appearing as young Ben Solo despite being fully grown, which should add to the hilarity. No digital de-aging here, just lanky Driver in short pants.
The plot – if you can call it that – of the new Undercover Boss sketch revolves around Lando investigating his Cloud City mining facility to determine what his lovers/employees really think of him. The smooth-talking pansexual is quickly brought down from the clouds as everyone from Lobot (Beck Bennett) to a gaggle of protocol droids admit to being a bit underwhelmed by the baron administer’s moves.
As luck would have it, Leia and young Ben Solo are visiting Cloud City while Lando is going undercover as an ugnaught. And there’s no fooling the super Force sensitive young Solo, who immediately recognizes “Uncle Wando” despite his disguise. Our spy tells us this becomes the revolving gag of the sketch, but that the big surprise will be Kim Kardashian West playing a sexy version of Leia… who also insults Lando.
Without having read the script, we can’t tell if this is going to be as funny as Driver’s first Undercover Boss, but its always great to see more of Lando Calrissian in our Star Wars media.
Tune in to SNL’s season opener on September 29th when Adam Driver hosts for the second time with Kanye as the musical guest.
