Grappling Hook Makers Boycott Galaxy Of Adventures
BOISE, IDAHO — The three largest manufacturers of grappling hooks are hung up on the new Star Wars micro-series of cartoons known as Galaxy of Adventures. One scene in particular has drawn their collective ire. The classic Leia rescue scene, where Luke uses a grappling hook to evade stormtroopers and swing Princess Leia to safety, has been subverted.
In the new cartoon version aimed at small children, Luke bungles the rescue by getting tangled up in the grappling hook’s cable. According to the presidents of Hookshot Inc., Grap-tastic, and Hang the Heck On, the sequence misrepresents facts and paints their products in a negative light.
“Even an idiot can use a grappling hook without getting tangled up. So this is just more Disney propaganda aimed at cutting into our sales. They’re indoctrinating young boys — who make up 105% of our customer base — to believe a well-made rope claw is somehow too complicated for them,” said Grap-tastic CEO Chet Breckinmeyer.
The grappling hook makers have banded together to boycott Galaxy of Adventures and start a letter writing campaign. They’re also creating video content to educate parents on the emotional and developmental benefits a grappling hook can provide for young boys.
“The videos have a great hook… we’ve got a hero named Fluke Skywalker named after a grappling hook with multiple hooks, and he’s going to recreate the rescue scene from Star Wars with not one damsel in distress but two. And he’s never once going to get tangled up. How do you like them apples.”
We reached out to Disney and Lucasfilm for a response to this story but they declined to comment.
