New Star Wars Dance Game Features K-Pop Sensations BTS
This past weekend, FSW attended #PAXEAST2019 and we’re happy to report the convention was a gamer’s wet dream. For Star Wars fans in particular, there was one game that towered over everything else, because of its cross-genre spoiler potential. That game? Calrissian Club Dance.
Music video game geniuses Bemani, creators of rhythm-based hits like Beat Mania and Dance Dance Revolution, have done it again with an incredible Star Wars-themed dance adventure. And there’s even more to unpack — the legendary developers have teamed up with Disney and Lucasfilm Games to create the Calrissian Club Dance, which will feature international K-Pop superstars, BTS.
No cameras were allowed in the CCD booth for obvious reasons but after demo-ing the game and spotting what appeared to be Episode IX spoilers, we immediately reached out to our sources at Disney. One of our Mouse House spies confirmed that the game will feature songs voiced in a new alien language created by BTS and its dance-a-long gameplay will give Star Wars fans their first look at Lando Calrissian’s night club from Episode IX.
In the game, players can choose to be one of eight aliens that very strongly resemble BTS’s animated avatars, BT21 (Tata, Mang, Chimmy, RJ, Koya, Cooky, Shooky, and Van); players are expected to dance well enough to create a diversion to help Resistance spies to make their escape from the First Order.
Our source verified that these same aliens will cameo in Episode IX, performing on stage in the background of Calrissian’s nightclub. Additionally, BTS has confirmed that they have signed a massive deal with Disney to produce an alien language album and perform a string of yet-to-be-announced in-universe canon concerts at the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge theme parks with Billy Dee Williams reprising his role as Lando to serve as emcee and the band’s manager.
Between the movie, the CCD game, the record deal and the upcoming performances, this cross-platform mega deal is sure to delight hordes of international fans of both franchises, and provide a whole new merchandising platform for the brands to profit from. We expect this to be properly revealed to the public at Star Wars Celebration next week.
