Controversial Joker Cosplayer Accused Of Gungan Appropriation [NSFW]
The cosplayer who drew heat for sexualizing mental illness with her Joker photoshoot is embroiled in yet another controversy — and this one’s even more bizarre. According to vocal Star Wars fans, Veronica Rae’s recent Instagram post, featuring the New York-based model wearing revealing lingerie and a Jar Jar Binks mask, is guilty of Gungan appropriation.
“Disrespectful, offensive, and muy muy wude,” wrote Twitter user CaptainTarpals4President, who believes Rae’s attempt at humor and millennial irony is “oppressive to Gungan nation.” Other Gungan fans take issue with her posing as a nearly nude rendition of what is meant to be a character for kids.
“I won’t even get into the fact that Jar Jar is played by an African-American man and this THOT [That Ho Over There] is Asian. It’s just gross seeing someone tarnish a beloved character by sexualizing him just for likes.”

FSW emailed Rae and asked her for a response, and she was quick to point out that it’s Joker-gate all over again.
“I didn’t think Jar Jar in a bra and panties would anger so many people. But I do find it hilarious that they’re commenting and giving me reach. I set a trap with my Joker cosplay, and DC fans fell for it… and I fake apologized with the Jar Jar photo, and now a different group of nerds is giving me even more attention for that!”

We asked Rae how she is coping with the Gungan controversy, and she replied by saying that her methods of self-care include: drinking fanboy tears, focusing on future PR stunts to cause more nerd rage, and playing videogames. “Right now I’m playing Jedi Outcast on the Switch,” she added.
Rae also told us she is excited for more “Star Wars mash-up cosplays” but stopped short of revealing what her “apology” Instagram post to Gungan fans would be. “It’s going cause so much butt hurt!”
