Jon Kasdan Happy To Take Star Wars Projects Meant For Dad
Recently, SYFY caused a great disturbance in the Force when they reported that Lawrence Kasdan was done with Star Wars. The co-writer of The Empire Strikes Backand Return of the Jedi also laid the blame for Solo’s underperformance on Lucasfilm’s interference, claiming “the studio blew it” despite him and his son Jon’s best efforts. Well, we’re glad to report that Larry doesn’t speak for every Kasdan.
In a group text chain early this morning, Jon Kasdan told FSW he’s more than happy to take on any Star Wars projects originally mean for his father.
“Dad’s right when he says SW has been very good to the Kasdans 🤑💰& I’d like to continue that legacy 😎 SMH at the rest of what he said tho 🤔 If anything HE blew it… this is a cash 🐮 I’d like to ride for the next 50 years”

The younger Kasdan, who penned the forthcoming Indiana Jones 5, went on to text that he is willing to accept all live-action Star Wars projects, including content made for Disney+, that his dad passes on.
“If it makes it easier for Disney to market — I’m willing to be credited as Larr Kasdan instead of Jon 😂,” joked the 40-year-old screenwriter/actor. His father, who was also in the group text, did not reply as Kasdan carried on.
“The new movies are about passing the torch & dad is blowing ours out ROTFLOL not on my watch! I’ll even doctor whatever scripts they have lying around… punch up JJ’s dialogue 😱… I’m open to anything SW related 👍 It doesn’t have to be about Solo”
You heard it hear first — Jon Kasdan wants in on all Star Wars projects Lawrence Kasdan deems beneath him. Considering the heights to which the elder Kasdan has reached with the franchise, FSW believes Jon is the perfect man for the job(s). Or to put it simply, “Keep it Kasdan,” like he urged in his final text during our conversation.
