Gamer Distraught over Lack of Pay to Win Feature in Jedi: Fallen Order

Without a doubt the hottest game of the year is EA and Respawn’s Jedi: Fallen Order! The game follows former Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis as he rediscovers his identity and teams up with a motley crew of galactic misfits as they fight Imperial forces and attempt to bring the Jedi back to their former glory.

Overall the game has gotten positive reviews with many people claiming it to be the best Star Wars game since LucasArts’ Masters of Teräs Käsi from 1997 for PlayStation. However one such gamer is distraught over the game’s lack of loot boxes.

EA has been at the center of controversy for years with their loot boxes and micro transactions. While it may seem an innocent ploy to get kids to use their parent’s credit cards to buy additional add-ons such as a new outfit or hairstyle, others consider it to be nefarious attempt by the developers to force gamers to purchase new weapons and abilities to progress in the game faster. In other words “pay to win” like many mobile ‘gotcha’ games.

Faking Star Wars caught up with one such gamer known by his Xbox Gamertag, Ticos_R0ses, at an area GameStop.

“I thought I’d be able to have a chainsaw lightsaber or something and be able to ram my fist down some Imperial asses!” the depressed gamer told us, “but now I’ve been stuck on the Gungan level for a week. If I could buy some power ups or weapons I definitely make it to the next level.”

While many consider this to be a step in the right direction for the beleaguered company, it remains to be seen how this new strategy will pan out.
