Natalie Portman Cut From Celeb Video Urging People To Stand Up For Blacks
Outspoken celebrity activist Natalie Portman is livid after her spoken word think piece in support of #ITakeResponsibility was nowhere to be found in the campaign’s final 2-minute video.
“This is the kind of oppression I live with every day. I followed the rules, filmed it in black and white, and hit all the right points, but still they violently silenced me,” said Portman.
The star-studded video as aired features 14 white celebrities, including Sarah Paulson, Aaron Paul, Kesha, Kristen Bell, Justin Theroux, Debra Messing, Bryce Dallas Howard, Stanley Tucci, and Ilana Glazer. In the video, each of the performers calls on their fellow whites to stand up for Black friends and family in America. Unfortunately, Portman along with a few other white celebrities did not make the cut.
“I understand dropping Louis CK, Harvey, and the cast of Vanderpump Rules but me?! Did they not see my verse in the Imagine video that cured COVID on Instagram? The only thing I can think of is that somehow they took issue with me rapping. They said no singing, nothing about rapping though. And there’s no way in the world anyone will confuse my hot fire with singing. This is just so frustrating. White people gonna white people I guess.”
Despite having her scripted freestyle cut from the PSA, Portman still wants white people to make their own videos and share them using the hashtag: #itakeresponsibility.
