Black Sun Syndicate Renamed Boys & Girls Club Of The Underworld

DATHOMIR — Darth Maul held a press conference late Tuesday to announce widespread changes to the Black Sun Syndicate and its holding company the Shadow Collective. The former Sith Lord plans to re-brand both organizations in the face of growing concerns over problematic language.

“No self-respecting modern enterprise — criminal or otherwise —  should be using words to punch down at marginalized groups. So I apologize for taking so long to address the issues with the names of my businesses. Today, however, we reveal ourselves as the Boys & Girls Club of the Underworld, a part of the newly formed Happy Death’s Head Collective.”

Maul went on to explain how Black humanoids and aliens are not inherently evil despite how language often paints a different picture. He vows to use words more responsibly and hopes other organized crime figures do the same.

“Listen, I proudly employ assassins, smugglers, and bounty hunters of every size, shape, and color under the sun. But how could I call myself an ally and still use the words dark and shadow to imply evil-doing in an attempt to intimidate the galaxy? I say, let our deeds to that… our names should no longer reinforce negative stereotypes.”

Maul also announced that The Boys & Girls Club of the Underworld and Happy Death’s Head Collective would be making trillion-credit donations to each other in support of positive change.
