“Jeans Guy” Quits Over Digital Erasure

The production intern at the center of “Jeansgate” has parted ways with Lucasfilm, citing creative differences. Crispin Delgado aka “Jeans Guy” became an overnight sensation recently when his unbilled cameo in The Mandalorian: Chapter 12: The Siege launched a thousand memes.

Sadly, rather than ride the wave of harmless goodwill, Lucasfilm digitally erased “Jeans Guy” on grounds that Delgado and his basic outfit would break the Star Wars canon irrevocably. The 24-year-old aspiring grip was understandably devastated.

“They deleted me like I’m just ones and zeros. I’m a person and my name is Crispin.”

The revised scene featuring 100% less Delgado

According to Delgado, who has served as an unpaid intern since The Mandalorian: Chapter 1: The Mandalorian, his appearance should be preserved and rewarded, not deleted.

“I wasn’t photo-bombing or anything. Gina [Carano] had asked me to have her bucket of fried chicken within 6 feet of her at all times. Mind you, that was not in my list of intern responsibilities, but I’m a trooper and a team player. You’d think they’d let me keep my 15 minutes of fame.”

After high-level discussions with a Production Assistant went nowhere, Delgado issued his resignation via email.

“I’m erasing myself now, because I don’t want to give them the satisfaction of seeing me as The Intern That We Digitally Erased. By the way, as a latinx gender-fluid person, I feel like they lied to me when they said ‘I see you, Crispin’ during my interview for the internship. And for the record, there’s nothing wrong with my jeans. If anything, they should have digitally added my jeans to more scenes. Hello, it’s a space western…and you have zero jeans…does that make any sense? They’re happily retconning Baby Yoda and Ahsoka Tano into everything. I’m sure they could have figured out how my t-shirt and jeans survived the clone wars and went into hiding somehow. Ugh.”

Delgado is already onto bigger, better things—and it appears Star Wars fans are going along for the ride with him. The former intern’s new Kickstarter campaign for The Erasables, a comic book starring Star Wars Jeans Guy and Game of Thrones Coffee Cup, has already raised $25.
