Opinion: The Problem With The Bad Batch Is That All Of The Men Look The Same
This week FSW is proud to bring you an editorial by Lars van Crier, better known as “StarWarsDad99” on several popular message boards including our long defunct FakingFandomForums and the r/StarWarsSatire subreddit. Enjoy!
I really don’t get it. The Bad Batch is meant to be the Star Wars version of The Dirty Dozen or The A-Team but every male on the show looks identical. Is it just me? Where is the diversity?
It’s like they took one guy’s face and traced it over and over again, just mixing up the facial hair occasionally. This is exactly why I could never get into Clone Wars or Rebels. No, it’s not that they were too kiddy for me, or that I look down on cartoons. It’s simply because they look cheap thanks to these lazy shortcuts.
For goodness sake, even Omega looks like the men. Would it have killed them to change the shape of the faces or use darker skin tones? I know computer animation can be expensive, but I don’t think it would cost too much to add a face filter or a different color to these characters.
Sorry not sorry but this is the last time I fall for the Filoni hype. They should have called it The Carbon Copies, because it’s literally the same guy over and over again.
Maybe the average Star Wars fan is blind to this stuff but not this guy. I guarantee next episode they’ll introduce another dudebro character who looks just like everyone else. Ugh. I am beyond triggered. Can’t believe I wasted an hour of my time watching this nonsense. God, I miss Grogu.
