“Bad Batch” Star Apologizes To Every Single Māori Person For Voicing Clones

In a press conference held early this morning, Dee Bradley Baker issued an apology to every single Māori person in the country for voicing the Bad Batch. The veteran voice actor said it was irresponsible of him to take five jobs from five people of color who could better represent the clones of color.

“There’s so little Māori representation in pop culture these days, that when the opportunity presents itself, the right thing to do is to step aside and look beyond your privilege to allow for the culture to be portrayed authentically.”

The Emmy award winner also announced he will be passing the baton to Māori quintuplets from the Cook Islands, who will each voice one of the Bad Batch characters.

“These guys look and sound much closer to Temuera Morrison than this melanin-deficient voice ever could,” said Bradley, who promised to be an ally to voice actors of color moving forward. He ended the press conference by chanting “Aroha Mai” [Māori for “I’m sorry”], while performing a vigorous haka dance.
