Brie Larson To Play Rey Skywalker’s Love Interest In Episode X
A new rumor from our friends at We Got This Smothered has left the FSW crew speechless. According to intel, which has been confirmed by Psych Zer-0h, Brie Larson is close to signing a $20 million deal to write, direct and star in Episode X. But thats not the only bombshell. Apparently, the Oscar winner is determined to introduce the first openly gay relationship between lead characters in a Star Wars film.
“It’s going to be major Romeo and Juliet vibes between Larson’s character and Rey,” said We Got This Smothered contributor Jacen Winkledale.
Larson’s script is said to revolve around Rey and a crisis of faith she suffers after discovering Luke Skywalker’s secret Sith stash. Our hero proceeds to question everyone and everything she’s ever known. Larson’s enigmatic character befriends Rey during her time of need. The pair instantly connect with Larson serving as a guide to Rey’s soul searching, which involves confronting past traumas.
Psych Zer-0h tells us the script offer the most emotionally charged moments ever for a Star Wars film. He also mentioned Larson has been collaborating with Rian Johnson on a weekly basis to fine-tune some of the story beats and ensure the script feels authentic to both Star Wars and the LGBTQ community.
If Larson signs on, it would quell rumors that she’s playing Mara Jade as this is an entirely new character with a dark secret.
The sequel to the sequel trilogy would also mark the first time a mainline Skywalker film existed as a self-contained story as opposed to a trilogy.
“I’m just glad we finally get two white women hooking up for a white woman director. That’s progress right there. I’m not sure it’s going to have the happy ending Rey’s fans are thirsty for. But neither did Titanic, and that made boatloads at the box office,” added Winkledale.
What do you think? Would a new romance for Rey help her come to grips with the hypocrisy of the Jedi? Can you imagine Luke secretly being a Sith acolyte? Will Rian Johnson’s contributions make Larson’s script better or worse? Let us know in the comments or in social!
