Boba Fett’s Starship Renamed Hutt Slayer One
The Loth-cat’s out of the bag! Disney has revealed that Boba Fett’s Starship, which was previously known as Slave I in less woke times, is undergoing a second renaming. The newly agreed upon moniker is Hutt Slayer One, and Star Wars fans have the Lucasfilm Story Group to thank for the change.
“Boba Fett’s Starship was too generic, but that’s not really what we took issue with. It was a missed opportunity to show brand synergy with previously established nomenclature. Since 2015, beginning with Slave Leia, the Story Group decided the word ‘slave’ was problematic and not reflective of what Star Wars represents today. So wherever we encounter that slur in canonical materials, we agreed to replace it with the much more progressive and empowering term Hutt Slayer. Hence Hutt Slayer Leia then, and Hutt Slayer One now.”

Hidalgo also teased that the ship’s new name will take on greater significance in the upcoming live action TV series, The Book Of Boba Fett. “I can’t say too much but just know that the Hutt Slayer One‘s name is very, very well earned.”
When asked whether Watto should be reclassified as a Hutt Slayer trader, and if Anakin and his mother should now be referred to as Hutt Slayers under Watto’s supervision, the Chilean-Canadian executive muted us.
In any case, if you happen to own merchandise with Boba Fett’s spaceship labeled ‘Slave I‘ or the super short-lived ‘Boba Fett’s Starship,’ you may have quite a collector’s item on your hands.
