Edward Furlong Lands Job At Galaxy’s Edge

“After the second call back, I got a really good feeling,” said former teen star Edward Furlong after landing the role of a homeless humanoid at one of Disneyland’s new Star Wars-themed attractions. We’re told the actor beat out Drake Bell of Nickelodeon’s Drake & Josh and singer-songwriter Aaron Carter for the coveted part at Disneyland.

Furlong, best known as young John Carter in Terminator 2: Judgement Day, joins the cast of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge as a vagabond who spends his time feeding porgs and barking random phrases when he’s not searching the grounds for used death sticks.

Disney hopes Furlong can add some authenticity to the gritty, harsh reality of Black Spire, an outpost on the planet Batuu, located at the edge of the Outer Rim Territories. The 41-year old actor believes he’s more than up for the task.

“Dude, this is the role I was born to play. No shoes. No script. And I can just run around flipping nerds off. They’re even going to let me sleep in the place. Friggin’ dream job, right?”

The high-profile opportunity marks a return to form for Furlong, who’s spent the last several years living out a social experiment as a washed-up actor. In fact, he’s already gone from Z-list to D-list.

Upon booking the role at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the actor was immediately approached by director Tim Miller for a possible appearance in his upcoming female-led Terminator: Dark Fate. Surprisingly, the newly in-demand Furlong passed on the opportunity.

“Glorified cameo? In a Paramount movie? Yeah, no. I’m part of Star Wars now, and I don’t even have to wear pants to work — hey, you gonna eat that?”

Look for Furlong at the Black Spire Outpost when Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opens at Disneyland this summer. He promises to sign autographs for park visitors in exchange for any contraband smuggled into the park.
