Kathleen Kennedy Becomes President of Warner Bros. Entertainment
When the Disney sale of Lucasfilm took place in 2012, Kathleen Kennedy was hand-picked by George Lucas to take over as President of the company. Unfortunately, it appears the powerhouse producer has decided to move on to greener pastures instead, as she will be stepping down from her position.
“I have decided to move on from Lucasfilm, Ltd. and Star Wars to accept a new position. Effective immediately, I will be the president of Warner Bros. Entertainment and the newly founded DC Studios, in charge of leading the DC Extended Universe going forward.”

Following the exit of former Warner Bros. Entertainment president Kevin Tsujihara, Warner Bros. went straight to Kathleen Kennedy to lead the company going forward. They knew the leadership of a woman could help them course-correct the studio’s male-centric film offerings moving forward. Kennedy’s experience at Lucasfilm was the ultimate proving grounds, which helped seal the deal.
“There are so many ‘hashtag strong females’ in the pantheon of DC Comics and I’m very excited to lead them to the forefront of superhero films. There’s more than Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn, and with my help, those characters will succeed with groundbreaking visual effects and stories with heart. We will avoid the missteps from male-led films like Batman V Superman and Justice League.”

As of now, no one is stepping in to fill Kennedy’s vacancy at Lucasfilm, but rumors claim Bob Iger is looking to George Lucas to personally select the new President. Top choices according to our experts are Lucasfilm Story Group’s Pablo Hidalgo, Lucasfilm animation’s Dave Filoni, prequel era “Yes-man” Rick McCallum, and Sony’s Amy Pascal.
“I also may consider changing the name of the company to ‘Warner Gals’ since we are no longer ran by a man.”
