Legends Fan Relieved To Learn Peter Mayhew’s Death Not Caused by Falling Moon
Star Wars fans and pop culture nerds across the galaxy have been in mourning since the beginning of the month when news broke that original Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew passed away at his Texas home. Oddly enough, it gave Carl McAdamson of Rock Fork, Colorado a reason to celebrate. The Star Wars Legends superfan was thrilled to learn Mayhew’s cause of death was a heart attack, and not being crushed by a falling moon.
While McAdamson will always be a fan of Star Wars Legends, the New Jedi Order novel Vector Prime stands out as its lowest point, even worse than watching The Last Jedi. When he returned home Wednesday evening from a month long “electronics-free” sabbatical to Guilin, China, where the Kashyyk scenes for the Star Wars Holiday Special were filmed, McAdamson logged onto Twitter and saw the Wookiee actor had become one with the Force.
McAdamson quickly jumped to Peter Mayhew’s Wikipedia page to make sure that what he was reading was not a hoax. With tears in his eyes he read the truth, but those tears turned to joyous one upon discovering the cause of death was a heart attack, and not being crushed by a moon.
“When I saw Mr. Mayhew was not crushed by the moon like Chewbacca in Vector Prime I was so happy. Of course I’m sad he’s gone, I never got him to sign my vintage trading cards, but knowing he didn’t undergo ‘death-by-moon’, I was… over the moon.”
McAdamson then built a shrine to Mayhew in his backyard and, while dressed like a Wookiee, performed scenes from the Original Trilogy, the Holiday Special, and an original Chewbacca Mom skit where he portrayed Chewbacca Mom.
Peter, you will be missed by fans around the globe, across the stars, and by a strange Wookiee-man in the little town of Rock Fork, Colorado.
