Rise of Skywalker Deleted Scenes Explain Rose Tico’s Promotion
Space Bangs no more! First introduced as a lowly ‘Power Converter Technician, Fourth Class’ in The Last Jedi, Rose Tico has since been promoted to Commander of the Resistance’s Engineering Corps. Star Wars fans may be perplexed at how such a lowly drone could get promoted to such a prestigious position. According to the most recent leaks from Michael Null, scenes have been filmed to explain Rose’s rise through the ranks in The Rise of Skywalker.
When we last saw Tico, she saved Finn from certain death which seemed to ensure the demise of the Resistance… or Rebels… or whatever they’re calling themselves in this next film. Fortunately for them, Jake Skywalker was able to distract Emo Ren while maRey Sue was able to move some rocks or something. Thus, the Resistance lives to fight another day.
“Several key scenes were filmed depicting her reassignment to the Resistance’s flagship, the Ackbar. She uses her grit and determination to prove her mettle as the best choice to lead the Engineering Corps. One scene in particular is being described as Rose waiting in the hangar bay of the Ackbar and ambushing her superiors with an electro-shock prod before blasting them into space from the airlock after she overheard them talking about how they thought Finn and Rey would make a cute couple. With the Engineering Corps’ dwindling ranks due to ‘unknown circumstances,’ Resistance leaders were forced to promote Tico to lead this division.”
–Michael Null, infamous leaker apparently.
According to Null, the scenes were shot as part of the film’s most recent round of reshoots in hopes of creating a cohesive film that will satisfy even the most cynical Star Wars fan. Ultimately, they cut the scene to give the adorable and cuddly Babu Frik an additional 15 seconds of screen time. Good call on their part as fans will do anything for wee little Frik.
Tico fans shouldn’t feel let down however as her deleted scenes will be included in the Bluray and digital releases of the film. She will also feature in several big battle sequences fighting against both Rey and Jannah for what she loves… Finn.
