Top 10 Instagrammable Walls Planned For Galaxy’s Edge
ORLANDO, FL — Recently, chants of “BUILD THAT WALL” could be heard throughout Galaxy’s Edge, but before you get the wrong idea, the wall under construction was a backdrop designed for Instagram moments, a far cry from President Trump’s wall.
The purple backdrop in question is part of a last-ditch effort to increase attendance at Disney’s fledgling new Star Wars-themed addition to Disney World. The company hopes the addition of photogenic walls along the grounds of Batuu will give visitors one more thing to do, since the park’s marquee ride, Rise of the Resistance, doesn’t arrive until December 5th (barring any additional delays).
Disney already offers Instagrammable walls in other areas of the park, but the 10 being added to Galaxy’s Edge will feature designs and characters inspired by the Skywalker saga. According to our source, these are the Star Wars “gram” walls coming as soon as next week:
10. Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo’s “Fuchsia is Now”
Visitors can pay homage to the purple wall that started the whole Instagram craze at Disney World, while also looking as fierce as Amilyn Holdo. This purple wall is unapologetic and commands attention, just like the Vice Admiral herself. According to color scientist and influencer Tooki, its futuristically feminist and “everything!”
09. Han Solo and Greedo’s “Who Shot First”
Forget blasters — this fun backdrop depicts Solo and Greedo in a race to be first to shoot a selfie. The meta concept has a spot for visitors to pose and snap their own selfie, edging out the pair of adversaries. George Lucas is said to be a huge fan of this wall, and was first to snap a selfie against it.
08. Admiral Ackbar’s “It’s a Trap!”
This interactive design features a collage of the legendary Mon Calamari admiral’s head in various states of alarm. His classic line doesn’t appear in a talk bubble, because his worried faces and bug eyes say it all. The best part of this “gram wall” is the literal trap door that opens when you touch one of the Ackbar faces in the collage. A camera is set up directly across the wall, and whenever someone finds the door, it snaps their reaction as a Disney performer dressed as Ackbar pops out and scares the crap out of them.
07. “We are Rey”
Rey may be a ‘no one’, but that’s what makes her an ‘every one’, and this wall lets everyone and anyone become Rey in a fun recreation of the mirror scene from The Last Jedi. If they place this anywhere near the restrooms, expect a veritable army of Reys.
06. “The Force is Female”
In a bit of ingenious marketing, this wall can only be accessed by girls and women who purchase an official ‘Force is Female’ t-shirt, hoodie, or hat from the Black Spire Outfitters gift shop. The right gender and gear will grant you access to a backdrop featuring the iconic image of Kathleen Kennedy in the shirt she made famous. Show the world that women are a Force to be reckoned with alongside the president of Lucasfilm.
05. “Lando’s Closet”
Sure to be a hit with influencers and fashionistas, “Lando’s Closet” features a graphic design made up of the scoundrel’s most iconic capes. The color pattern also reflects the pansexual pride flag, which might explain why so many droids are looking forward to this wall.
04. “Thala-siren Splash”
What if Luke Skywalker made a mess while milking the four-breasted mammals of Ahch-To? That’s what this wall brings to mind with its sea foam green stripes and organic splashes of milky color. Inspired by the expressionist work by the late Jackson Pollock, this backdrop invites visitors to pose with their green milks and Bubo Wamba Family Farms Novelty Drink Vessels — both available for purchase at the Milk Stand. Cheers!
03. “Palpatine Dream”
Definitely not for Jedi Younglings, this ambitious wall features a live electrical current for a 4D effect that no Instagram filter could ever hope to match. This “unlimited power” effect is paired with a visualization of epic Force lightning as Sheev Palpatine’s creepy eyes loom large in the distance. “Pure nightmare fuel,” said Disney Imagineer lead Wu Shu Smith-Klaxxonberg de Rodrigues.
02. “Ben Swolo Shred”
Want to show people you’re pumped about visiting Galaxy’s Edge? Nothing shouts it from the rooftops like a picture against the “swolest” wall in the entire park. Iconic high-waisted black pants form a border along the bottom of the super-wide “Ben Solo Shred” design, while the majority of the backdrop is dedicated to the world’s largest set of abs. Perform the Kylo Ren Challenge in the same black pants or simply lean up against your favorite ab — Ben Swolo has got your back. You can almost hear Kylo saying, “No, I do.”
01. “The Fanboy Wailing Wall”
Disney is giving distraught manbabies and toxic fanboys a backdrop just for them! The Fanboy Wailing Wall allows them to pose while praying to a mural of George Lucas painted on a cracked wall. Manbabies are encouraged to place their prayers to The Maker, along with complaints and petitions protesting everything Disney, including the wall itself, within the cracks found throughout the wall. Small vials will also be available for placing fanboy tears into the wall as well. Now this is wailing!
