Adam Driver Trashes Sesame Street Over Marriage Story Clip
Here’s a lesson, kids: Never, ever show Adam Driver a video of himself… unless you want him to become an angry child and storm off into a rage. That’s exactly what happened during the filming of a Sesame Street segment involving the Kylo Ren actor.
The 12 Days of Christmas Cookies featured Driver and Cookie Monster presenting an Advent Calendar of various holiday confections revealed by other Sesame Street characters. The sing-a-long was proceeding as planned until Cookie Monster surprised Driver with an unscripted treat in the 9th doorway.
Rather than a character holding a cookie, the doorway revealed a clip from the film Marriage Story that featured Driver eating pizza and talking with his mouth full. Cookie Monster dubbed it a “stuffed crust pizza cookie” in the song he was singing, before he was abruptly interrupted by the 6’ 2” performer.
“What the hell is wrong with you, Cookie?! How would you like to hear yourself eating cookies? Huh? Huh?!? You really are a f*%$ing monster, you know that!!”
After berating Cookie Monster and his handler, Driver proceeded to destroy much of the Sesame Street set in an outburst worthy of Kylo Ren.
According to FSW sources, the show’s producers were aware of the fact that Driver abhors listening to recordings of himself, especially those of him eating. In an effort to avoid a possible meltdown, the segment director had advised the Marine-turned-actor to close his eyes and place his fingers in his ears during “Window 9.”
“We don’t understand what got into Adam,” said one Sesame Street staffer. “But no matter what demons are in that guy’s head, there’s no excuse for taking out Oscar’s garbage can like that. He wasn’t even in the segment.”
Due to his bizarre outburst, Driver has been banned from the show for the foreseeable future. We’re told the segment may still air as the 8 Days of Hannukah Cookies.
