New Force Power Allows Jedi To Fix Plot Holes In Any Medium
For years Star Wars fans have wondered how Anakin Skywalker managed to build C-3PO by himself at such a young age. Or how he became the only human podracer to win the Boonta Eve Classic on Tatooine while still in Underoos. More recently, the sequel trilogy left viewers similarly perplexed by Rey’s proficiency in piloting the Millennium Falcon after having been inside it for all of 10 minutes.
Well, wonder no more, as the mysteries have now been over-explained in a new novel set in the High Republic era. Daniel José Older’s Race to Crashpoint Tower features the debut of a new Force power that allows Jedi to instinctively understand technology.
Apparently, long before Radio Shack, Geek Squad, and the IT department, there was a Jedi Padawan named Ram Jomaran who could simply look at a piece of tech, be it a damaged speeder or malfunctioning comm system, and understand exactly how to fix it—no Swedish instructions necessary!
Jomaran, affectionately known as “Mr. Fix It” in the novel, could fix virtually anything as his name implies. However, the big twist to his power, is a fourth wall breaking ability to fix the numerous plot holes in various Star Wars media.
“When you write yourself into a jam, bring in Jam is what we tell everyone working on Star Wars,” said Older, who believes this new Force power will satisfy readers who want everything regarding interconnected stories in a shared universe to make sense.
“The modern Star Wars fan doesn’t want mumbo jumbo mysticism when it comes to the Force. They’re tired of us using it as a deus ex machina device without properly explaining things. Ram Jomaran’s power will help put to bed a lot of the criticisms against the prequels and the sequels” added Older.
Jomaran’s new Force ability is the latest in a new interpretation of the Jedi. During the High Republic, each Padawan and Jedi was encouraged to interpret the Force in their own unique ways. To date, the High Republic novels and comic books have introduced Jedi who can experience the Force as music, critical race theory symposiums, 10-day extended meteorological forecasts, and pansexual good hair.
In essence, these old school Jedi behave much like Marvel’s X-Men, with each having a specialty as opposed to Anakin and Rey who were well versed in nearly every one of these skills. As for why we moved away from the much more marketable X-Men variety of Jedi, it seems Master Yoda is to blame.
As the dark side started to rear its head, Yoda moved the Jedi Order away from Force experimentation. “He really pushed this Euro-centric, heteronormative view of things onto everyone, and he may have meant well, but in doing so, Yoda silenced many of the marginalized voices within the Order,” said former Lucasfilm executive Kiri Hart via Omegle chat.
