Truth Behind Patty Jenkins’ Rogue Squadron Departure Revealed

Kathleen Kennedy strikes again! It was reported last week that the legendary producer and Lucasfilm president has fired yet another director on a Star Wars project. It was a mystery as to why Patty Jenkins stepped down from directing the highly anticipated Rouge Squadron film but we here at Faking Star Wars have received the exclusive scoop as to why.

Like Lord and Miller before her, it appears that Jenkins was fired due to her choice of socks. As FSW reported in the past, Kennedy is a stickler for how her employees present their foot ware and just because Jenkins was the first female director hired for a theatrical Star Wars film, she was no exception for Kennedy’s weird rules.

According to Lucasfilm insiders, Jenkins showed up to a story group meeting wearing official Star Wars branded “Baby Yoda” socks which were visible between the seam of her jeans and slip-on Vans. While the socks were “on brand” they were a no-no as Kennedy is no nonsense when it comes to socks. Kennedy requires either solid black or white socks with the occasional dark blue or gray being allowed on certain office holidays, i.e. Gray Jedi Day which allows for gray socks. Unfortunate for Jenkins, Kennedy works on a one strike rule so she was sent packing.

We are left with a few questions regarding Patty Jenkins and the Rogue Squadron film. Will the newly hired director Cam Ray adhere to Kennedy’s socks requirements? What will Jenkins do next? Will the Rogue Squadron movie actually be made or go into the vault of unused Star Wars film ideas? Let us know what you think in the comments.
