JJ Abrams to Produce Back to the Future 30th Anniversary Reboot!

This just in! JJ Abrams has signed on to produce the reboot of the 80’s classic Back to the Future! After the jump see who’s signed on to star and direct!

For some, rebooting Back to the Future is sacriligious, while others welcome it as the second film in the series poorly predicted the future as basically the 80’s with hoverboards and hovercars.

No reports on if real sets and practical effects will be used for Back to the Future IV.

To appease both sides, JJ has decided that this new film will be more of a soft reboot, bringing the future seen in BTTF II to the correct light and sending new characters on an excellent journey. I just think that they want to have iPhones in the future instead of Devo glasses. Also due to the soft reboot, the only thing canon now are the three films. The novels, video games, and animated series will be considered “Legends.” The great thing is, the original cast will be back reprising their roles as the McFly family, Doc Brown, and Biff but they will not be in the main focus as they will be passing the Flux-Capacitor onto the next generation.

Fox left, Ridley right.

Leading the cast will be The Force Awakens’ rising star, Daisy Ridley as the new “Marty McFly.” Jacen’s cousin, who works as Michael J. Fox’s barista, got us this info but did not know what Ridley’s character’s relation to Marty will be, just that she will be a McFly and the center of the film. Jacen’s cousin believes her to be Marty’s daughter Marlene, originally played by Fox himself due to his comment, “I’m glad I won’t have to dress as my own daughter again.” when Jacen’s cousin handed him his Venti iced skinny hazelnut Macchiato, with sugar-free syrup, extra shot of espresso, light ice, and no whip.

The “Doc” role will be filled by none-other-than Mark Hamill as Doc Brown’s son Jules from BTTF III grown to a time travel weary adult. It’s not known where in the time stream he has been but by how rough he looks it’s implied he has seen a lot. It’s also worth mentioning that Jules’ time machine will be a Toyota Prius.

Rumors do point that they will have to go to the year 1985 to stop Jules’ younger brother Verne (who will be played by Andy Serkis) from killing Marty and Doc before the first time travel happens. Apparently Verne will be the villain and blames Doc from taking him away from the life he should of had if he had never met their mother. Unknown to him though, he never would have existed if not for Doc getting trapped in 1885 rescuing Clara from going over into the gulch.

Kinberg and Trank promise it will not be a “Fantastic Failure.”

Original writer and director Robert Zemeckis will also be passing the torch onto a new director and writer team. Josh Trank and Simon Kinberg will be directing and writing respectively. This will be their first team up since their failure of a film, the 2015 Fantastic Four reboot. JJ Abrams feels their film would have been good if not for the studio’s close involvement in the film. JJ will be working side by side also providing adult super vision and inputting in writing to make sure the fans of the Back to the Future franchise will not be disappointed.
