Exclusive! More History on the Knights of Ren and the Truth About Midichlorians in The Force Awakens

Get ready. This is a big one. Although our site is known for making satirical and tongue-in-cheek posts regarding Star Wars, occasionally we do post some legit leaks as well. Thanks to some connections in the industry we were given 90 minutes in a closed room with the actual shooting script for The Force Awakens. We can’t give away every juicy detail, but there is a fascinating explanation for the title of the film that we can divulge. After the jump, hear what the story is!

When JJ started the script, he dug deep into Star Wars backstory to revamp the entire franchise. Most incredibly, the character of Qui-Gon Jinn is revealed to have much more to do with the series than previously expected. It turns out, that Qui-Gon himself was working as a covert operative for the sinister Knights of Ren.

After being left for dead by Palpatine, Maul too became a Knight of Ren and changed his name to Snoke.

The goal at the time of The Phantom Menace was to create just enough confusion and instability about the way the force worked so that the emperor could take charge of the Galactic Senate. Qui-Gon, in league with several other “gray Jedi” therefore created the myth of “midichlorians” as a way of convincing the general populous that force-sensitivity was an exclusive characteristic that one could not choose or acquire without the requisite biochemistry. Darth Maul actually killed Qui-Gon to legitimize his reliability regarding all things force-related in nature.

Qui-Gon Ren
Together, with the Knights of Ren, Qui-Gon duped the Jedi into purchasing their midichlorians meters to test certain individuals and filter out the majority of the population as potential Padawans.  In league with the bureaucrats of the Senate, they sought to limit the number of Jedi in the galaxy in order to have just enough to maintain social fear and order, but at the same time prevent the public from attempting force-usage themselves.

Near the end of his life, Qui-Gon had second thoughts about his affiliation and legacy, so he recorded the entire plot into a holocron. We don’t want to spoil how this holocron ended up in Darth Vader’s lightsaber but trust us – the reveal will rival The Empire Strikes Back for surprise.

In The Force Awakens Kylo Ren is searching for this holocron so that it doesn’t fall into the wrong hands. If the midichlorian conspiracy is revealed to the galaxy at large, it will be impossible for the First Order to control the masses.

That’s all for now, but stay tuned for part two where we reveal Qui-Gon’s appearance as a force ghost in Episode VIII.
