We got this email in over the weekend but we held off on sharing it until our sources could confirm the scoop. Michael Arndt’s script for Star Wars: Episode VII included a tiger sidekick as one of the leads in the film, filling Chewbacca’s role of the original trilogy. For more info and an exclusive look at the concept art, hit the jump.

The female lead of the film, named Fawn Solo in Arndt’s draft, was supposed to have a tiger sidekick accompanying her in Episode VII. While the beast wouldn’t speak or be fluent in Basic, Fawn could understand him similar to how Han Solo communicated with Chewbacca. The tiger was big enough for Fawn to ride atop and carry her gear. Unfortunately, like the rest of Arndt’s ideas, the tiger was flushed down the toilet. Fear not, fakers! We were able to score an image of this never-before-seen character.

This feline would have certainly been a force to be reckoned with, and it’s a shame they instead went with BB-8 as the female lead’s sidekick.  We’ll never forget you, tiger buddy!
