Exclusive! The Colorful Mystery of Captain Phasma

For those keeping track, there has yet to be any indication that Gwendoline Christie’s Captain Phasma will remove her helmet in The Force Awakens — and for good reason! As it turns out Phasma has a secret identity that fans will quickly recognize. After the jump we reveal the woman behind the mask.

There have been many rumors floating around that the villainous Kylo Ren from Star Wars: The Force Awakens is actually Ezra Bridger of Rebels. Well whoever leaked that tiny bit of info got it wrong. As it turns out, the Rebels character who will be seen in The Force Awakens is not Ezra, but none other than “Pinky Fett,” Sabine Wren!

In the season 2 finale of Rebels, we will see Sabine captured by the Imperials, who proceed to torture, brainwash, and freeze her in carbonite. Apparently the Imperials forgot about her, leaving her on ice for a long time, finally awakening a few years before TFA. Sabine, known for her Mandalorian heritage, was quickly recognized by General Hux who made her his personal enforcer, Captain Phasma. That’s right folks, Phasma is Sabine!

Now what does this mean for you “Sabra” or “Ezine” shippers out there? Well you’re out of luck. This plan went into motion as soon as JJ decided he wanted the chrome trooper to be its own female character — someone fans would quickly recognize so he decided on Sabine. He went to Dave Filoni who thought it was an excellent idea and quickly endorsed it.

Will Sabine remember who she was? Nope. All records of her have been precisely wiped by the First Order so she will never know who she used to be. The only indication that Phasma is Sabine will be her trademark pink hair under her helmet, only seen in a few shots in TFA.

We here at Faking Star Wars think this is an excellent move by the story group team as a way to bridge Rebels to The Force Awakens. Stay tuned for more fake news, Star Warriors!
