Rogue One Details and Rebranding a Famous Starship
Reports are going around showing an image of what appears to be Boba Fett’s famous starship, the Slave I, in Lego form with the subtitle Rogue I. After the new Star Wars Battlefront video game was released, supporters of the #BlackLivesMatter campaign who saw the name of the ship, which was never officially named on-screen only in tie-in material and Expanded Universe novels, were outraged saying Lucasfilm is insulting all African Americans due to their ancestors’ role as slaves to white folk! After the jump see what Disney plans to do to rectify the matter.

Beginning with this year’s Star Wars Anthology film; Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, will Disney/Lucasfilm be rebranding the Mandalorian’s whip as the “Rogue I,” the namesake of the upcoming film. As it turns out, the starship will belong to Felicity Jones’ character at this point in time before reverting back to Fett’s ownership by the time of Empire Strikes Back.
Disney’s Bob Iger has came forward this past week to issue an apology to fans of all races and cultures;
“I wan to extend a big apology to Star Wars fans of the African American demographic as well as all people across the globe who have dealt with slavery in their history. From this point on Boba Fett’s unique starship will be called the Rogue I and will appear in the upcoming Star Wars spinoff Rogue One. Once again, we are truly sorry to anyone who felt the former name was offensive and we are happy to change the name for you.”
The head of DICE has also issued a statement that in the next patch update for Battlefront the ship will be renamed as previously stated.
This begs to ask the question, why does Felicity Jones’ character have the Rogue I in her possession? Is she related to Boba Fett? Is she his ally and he is letting her borrow it? Is Fett in the film and working directly with her? We will find out soon enough we here at FakingStarWars assume but what do you think?
