EXCLUSIVE: Title and Cast to Han Solo Spin-Off Revealed!

IpMdY9Be

After speaking with a Disney Studios representative last week, we’ve received the go-ahead to release the full cast list for the upcoming Han Solo anthology film, which is titled Rebel Dawn: A Star Wars Story. The name is taken from the third novel in the Legends’ Han Solo Trilogy but the plot has little to do with that happens in that book. After the jump we fully expose the main cast of the film which takes place roughly 8 years prior to A New Hope!

Ehrenreich, Raynor, Bleu, and Suotamo.
  • Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Caesar!) stars as a 21 year old Han Solo. Han and his brother Denn have been on their own since their parents died during the Clone Wars.
  • Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction), who read for Han in the auditions, is set to play Han’s younger brother Denn Solo.
  • Corbin Bleu (High School Musical) will portray Lando Calrissian. It was down to Bleu and Chadwick Boseman, but due to Boseman’s commitment to Marvel Studios as Black Panther, the part is going to Bleu. Lando owns the Millennium Falcon at this point in time but Han steals it from him at the end of the film setting up a sequel.
  • Joonas Suotamo (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) will return to play Chewbacca for Rebel Dawn, Episode VIII, and Episode IX, taking over the role from Peter Mayhew who is leaving the role due to health reasons but will be onset for consulting.

    Gurira, Maslany, and Moretz.
  • Danai Gurira (The Walking Dead) is close to signing on as Sana Starros, Han’s “wife” from the new Marvel comics.
  • Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black), who was rumored to play Jyn Erso in Rogue One, has signed on to play Twi’lek assassin Brea.
  • Chloë Grace Moretz (Kick-Ass) will play Brea’s sister Jasra, a stealth expert.

Monhagan, Davis, and MacLeod.
  • Dominic Monhagan (Lost) has been cast as Han’s rival, and sometimes partner, Dash Rendar.
  • Warwick Davis (Harry Potter series) will have a supporting role as Dash’s droid L33-B0. He will both voice and motion-capture the new droid model who is said to be a cross between C-3PO, Deadpool, and a Pit Droid from The Phantom Menace.
  • Lewis MacLeod (Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace) returns to voice Sebulba, who after washing out of podracing, operates an illegal shipping/smuggling business on Coruscant’s level 1313. He employs all of the above characters including Han.

Richardson, Logan, and King.
  • Kevin Michael Richardson (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) is voicing and motion-capturing the main antagonist, Sern Shill, who will be the leader of the Guavian Death Gang and a new type of alien.
  • Daniel Logan (Attack of the Clones) returns to portray Boba Fett. He is hired by Shill to lead a group of Guavian Enforcers against Han Solo.
  • Jaime King (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) who voiced, Aurra Sing in The Clone Wars will voice and motion capture the character. She joins Boba Fett in hunting Solo.

Kilmer, Chandler, Selleck, Carano, and Riggs.
  • Val Kilmer (Batman Forever) appears as Boh-Emen, a businessman who hires Han and his group to recover a priceless artifact that a rival gang has stolen.
  • Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights) as Garris Chrike, a Clone Wars veteran and friend of Han’s parents who took the Solo boys in after their parents died.
  • Tom Selleck (Magnum, P.I.) will have a small cameo as Han’s father in a brief flashback. He and Han’s mother parents died during the Clone Wars.
  • Gina Carano (Deadpool) appears with Selleck as Han’s mother in the flashback.
  • Chandler Riggs (The Walking Dead) appears in the flashback as a child Han.

This is an excellent cast! Bringing back Star Wars vets like Logan, MacLeod, Davis, and King to further tie the universe together is a great move by Lucasfilm and Disney.
