Maisie Williams Cast as Young Princess Leia
LOS ANGELES, CA — Hot on the heels of Emilia Clarke landing a role in the upcoming young Han Solo film comes word that another Game of Thrones star is set to join Daenerys in a galaxy far, far away. FSW has finally been given the go-ahead to announce that fan favorite Maisie Williams will be portraying young Princess Leia opposite Alden Ehrenreich’s young Solo.
Fan reaction to the news has been mixed. Hardcore Game of Throne fans are ecstatic Williams will finally be in the spotlight.
“We’re glad Daenerys will finally play second fiddle to Arya. Disney is making a brave decision in allowing talent — not looks — to take center stage for once. There are enough pretty brunettes in Star Wars as it is,” said Anya Wardovski, webmaster for GOTGrrrrrls.org, one of the leading Game of Throne fan sites.
Meanwhile on the Star Wars side of fandom, the reaction has been largely negative.
“She looks nothing like young Carrie Fisher. I could see her maybe playing young Leia in a bounty hunter mask or thick veil, but not with her head out in the open. Leia is one of our biggest sex symbols for crying out loud, and Disney has no right to downgrade her looks and kill our childhood fapping with such a vastly inferior specimen. They already changed slave Leia to Hutt Slayer Leia, but now they want to make her ugly, too?! Not in my Star Wars!” said Alberto Reyes, manager of a mall kiosk dedicated to custom engraved Original Trilogy ornaments.
According to insiders, Han Solo directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have written a sexually charged scene between young Han and Leia. Spies tell us Williams may even be required to go topless – a first for a Star Wars film (or second depending on whether you count the Rancor Keeper’s moobs in Return of the Jedi.)
Word of the potential nude scene has Carrie Fisher’s daughter furious. Spies tell us Billie Lourd not only auditioned for the role her mother made famous, but was open to doing full frontal nudity. Lord and Miller were appreciative, but still passed on Lourd in favor of Williams.
“For f*^#’s sake, I have my mother’s 19-year old breasts. What more do these people want from me?!”
Hopefully the casting of two more Game of Thrones stars bodes well for the Star Wars universe. Still, we can’t help but feel there are even more stars from the HBO series on their way over to Disney’s enormous film franchise. Peter Dinklage as young R2-D2 or Wicket could be next.
