Mel Brooks Kills Spaceballs 2, Claims Satire Has Become Reality

PORT ST. LUCIE, FL — 90-year old master of satire Mel Brooks has quietly sunset a passion project many critics had predicted would be his magnum opus, Spaceballs: The Schwartz Awakens. Despite being well into pre-production, Brooks decided to pull the plug on the sequel to his fan favorite Spaceballs film, because he cannot compete with the real-life comedy known as Disney-era Star Wars.

During an exclusive phone interview with FSW, the venerated comic genius said:

“I don’t want to kvetsh too much, but Force Awakens was — if we’re being honest here – the original Star Wars again. So what am I going to do… make Spaceballs all over again? It’s not that easy. You can’t just reboot one of my films. Believe it or not, the audience for films that make fun of Star Wars is nowhere near as dumb as the super diverse, super representational, super focus-grouped-to-death, super pandered-to-idiots that line up to see Star Wars movies. Feh!”

The news hit very close to home at FSW as many of us were serving as consultants on Schwartz Awakens. “It’s tricky now because satire has become reality, but I understand where the old mentsh is coming from,” said William F. Bobo.

“It’s a sad day when our new fake Star Wars movie has nothing original left to make fun of,” added Link Voximilian.

When asked about outstanding fees for services rendered, Brooks quickly hung up on us.

As always, keep it locked to FakingStarWars.net for all the Star Wars news worth faking. Be sure to follow us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube for the latest updates.

P.S. We’re going to buy the rights to Spaceballs and kickstart a proper sequel.
